Started with Harmony Housing Affordable Development, successor to Greystone Affordable Development: 2008 (Founder)

Tanya is responsible for the strategic growth and implementation of Harmony Housing’s Affordable Housing Development efforts. The group’s mission is to facilitate meaningful and significant impacts on communities by providing low to moderate income households with decent, safe affordable housing through the creation, preservation, and capitalization of multifamily affordable housing assets across the U.S. Her team of 30 specializes in construction management, structured financing, and real estate development involving HUD, USDA, and other state and federal agencies. In recent years, she has facilitated the preservation and construction of over 15,000 affordable apartment homes with another 8,600 units in various stages of development across eleven states. Her executive leadership role is to oversee and monitor the successful execution of affordable housing, including managing internal and external business relations to ensure necessary private sector and government level agency participation, transaction closing and deliverable of post-closing milestones.

Tanya has worked in multifamily real estate since 1989, specifically in development, management, fiscal analysis, and asset management. Prior, Tanya was Executive Director of WAJ Management, LLC where she directed the asset management of LIHTC, HUD, and USDA sites located throughout North Carolina. More notable, she also served for approximately 11 years as Regional Vice President of Development for Forest City Residential Group, a previous Cleveland based $10.7 billion publicly traded real estate company, where she concentrated on urban development and adaptive re-use of multifamily sites throughout the eastern US.

Tanya holds an active North Carolina Real Estate Broker-In-Charge License and served as the Chairman of the Board and Past President of the National Council for Affordable and Rural Housing (CARH), as well as served on the Board of Directors for the National Rural Housing Coalition (NRHC) and Chaired the Fannie Mae Rural Duty to Serve Advisory Council for Multifamily. She currently serves on the Legislative Committee for the Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition (AHTCC) and is a Founding Executive Board Member of the Rural Multifamily Lenders Council (RMLC). Considered a thought leader in the affordable housing industry, Tanya is a frequent speaker at industry conferences, as well as providing key testimony to Congress on national affordable housing issues. She was named by Affordable Housing Finance as a Top Woman of Influence in Affordable Housing, as well as named one of the Top Women of Influence in Finance by Globe Street.

Fun Fact

Dreams of eradicating the font Times New Roman. Many that know her personally describe her as a cross between Joanna Gaines and Rachel Ray.
